1998
20 February 1998 Midi Spot I/S was founded by Nicolai Damgaard and Jens Røjmer Søndergaard.
Prior to the foundation of the company Nicolai Damgaard had been a demonstrator at Technics and in that connection produced some of Technics styles for the Scandinavian market.
The idea of Midi Spot I/S was to produce styles to all keyboard formats, not only Technics. It was not part of the original strategy that Midi Spot also should produce midi files thus some years went by before the Midi Spot production of midi files started.
2002
In 2002 Midi Spot began cooperation with TC-Helicon, which at that time was developed as part of the TC Group. TC Helicon had just launched VoicePrism, which at the time was considered a ground breaking choir machine. Midi Spot then had to produce midi files that could control VoicePrism thus making it possible to automatically supplement the midi files with choir in relevant places. This cooperation kick started Midi Spot’s midi file production.
2003
Nicolai Damgaard and Jens Røjmer Søndergaard realise that they could not produce enough midi files and styles of the high Midi Spot quality. Midi Spot therefore searched for midi programmers and in 2003 they succeeded. A Bulgarian programmer applied and send demo files of such high quality that Midi Spot immediately shipped a Roland VA-7 to Bulgaria with no certainty of it ever returning home again. This was before Bulgaria became a member of the EU thus making it quite an interesting venture. Fortunately it went fine and midi files were returned.
2004
Slowly more freelance programmers were hired in Bulgaria and the wish of permanent employment in a Danish subsidiary company became apparent. As part of the preparation herefore Midi Spot I/S was turned into Midi Spot ApS 1 July 2004.
2005
Also in Denmark the manning increased. Carsten Bo Henriksen, later co-owner, begins working for Midi Spot ApS in June 2005.
2006
In 2006 Jens Røjmer Søndergaard went to Bulgaria and founded the subsidiary company called Midi Spot Varna Ltd.
2007
Nicolai Damgaard had demonstrated Roland Keyboards for a number of years and in 2007 Midi Spot ApS was responsible of building and running the shop on rolandkeyboardclub.com. In addition, Midi Spot had to deliver midi files and styles to the site and Midi Spot ApS was also involved in the production of styles for Roland E-80. Unfortunately, E-80 never became a huge commercial success and Roland scaled down their engagement in the automatic keyboard business.
2009
1 January 2009, Carsten Bo Henriksen became the co-owner of Midi Spot ApS and later on he became the manager of Midi Spot’s production.
2010 - present time
Since 2010 Midi Spot has co-operated closely with Yamaha. Midi Spot produces files for Yamaha on a regular basis and sells these files on Midi Spot’s webshop. Yamaha has without a doubt conquered the market for automatic keyboards and Midi Spot is proud to be part of the success.
As the only new product from Midi Spot we have started to produce audio backing tracks which are MP3 files without melody voice. Audio is here for good and will undoubtedly grow in the future.
